Jurgen Klopp is pleased with Jordon Ibe's progress, after
the winger scored the
only goal, and his first in the senior team, in Liverpool's
1-0 win away at Rubin
Kazan in the Europa League tonight, but says how far the youngster goes is up to himself.
Liverpool produced a solid enough performance in the
first half, threatening Rubin
Kazan and forcing the Russian side's goalkeeper into
action, albeit only on one occasion.
However, the Reds could not find the breakthrough and
the score was locked at 0-0 at half time.
Liverpool made the breakthrough in the 52nd minute
though, Ibe scoring the goal
as he drove into the penalty area and then fired a shot
low into the far corner of the net.
Rubin Kazan offered little going forward and did not look like interrupting a
comfortable night's work for Liverpool.
Klopp was asked about goalscorer Ibe after the match by BT Sport and was full of
praise for the young winger, but said that his
development depends upon himself.
"It depends on Jordon [how good he can be]" , Klopp
said.
"The door is wide open. He is a very important player.
"He is a skilled guy, good on one on one, dribbling, he has to learn much, but the basis is not so bad."
